This training will focus on how to intentionally structure the first session to balance rapport-building and client experience with ethical responsibilities and strong documentation practices. We’ll review practical strategies that can be applied immediately in clinical work, including best practices for informed consent, setting expectations, and avoiding common documentation pitfalls..

Learning Objectives
Learner will review ethical responsibilities related to informed consent, fees and business practices, and records and documentation.
Learner will discuss ways of building rapport while addressing ethical and administrative requirements.
Learner will identify components that must be present to improve client experience, avoid future problems, and meet payor requirements.
Qualifications:
Riley Pate, Ph.D, LPC-S, LMFT-S, is trained in evidence-based therapies, including the trauma therapy Eye-Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) and the marital assessment tool Prepare/Enrich. He offers a variety of therapeutic services including premarital counseling and treatment for issues such as depression, anxiety, PTSD, trauma, parent-adolescent relationship problems, and marital conflict.
Life Within Counseling Group, LLC has been approved by NBCC as an Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP No. 7240. Programs that do not qualify for NBCC credit are clearly identified. Life Within Counseling Group, LLC is solely responsible for all aspects of the programs.
